Discover more about The Gardens Of Ninfa

Step into a realm of unparalleled beauty at the Giardino di Ninfa, often celebrated as one of the most romantic gardens in the world. Located in the territory of Cisterna di Latina, about an hour southeast of Rome, this 105-hectare parkland is a designated natural monument. Within the park, the landscape garden itself covers 8 hectares, showcasing a harmonious blend of nature and history. The garden's unique charm lies in its setting: the ruins of the medieval town of Ninfa. Once a thriving settlement, Ninfa was abandoned in the 16th century and gradually reclaimed by nature. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the Caetani family began restoring the area, transforming it into an Anglo-Saxon-style garden. Today, visitors can wander through the atmospheric ruins of churches, castles, and houses, all entwined with lush vegetation. The garden boasts over 1,300 plant species, including deciduous magnolias, birch trees, water irises, Japanese maples and a variety of rambling roses. The Ninfa River flows through the garden, creating a series of picturesque streams and a small lake that reflects the sky and surrounding flora. The WWF oasis within the park provides a habitat for diverse fauna, especially birds. The best time to visit is during the spring, when the cherry trees are in full bloom, creating a fairytale atmosphere.
