From the Lucca Train Station, exit the station and head towards Viale Giuseppe Garibaldi. Continue walking straight until you reach the historic city walls. Enter through the nearest gate (Porta San Pietro). Once inside the walls, follow the main road (Via Roma) as it curves left. After about 10 minutes, you will reach Piazza San Francesco, where the Chiesa di San Francesco is located on your right.

If you are starting from the Lucca Cathedral (Cattedrale di San Martino), exit the cathedral and turn left onto Via Vittorio Emanuele. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Via Fillungo. Turn right onto Via Fillungo, and follow it until you reach Piazza San Francesco. The Chiesa di San Francesco will be located at the far end of the piazza.

From Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, head towards Via dell'Anfiteatro and exit the square. Turn left onto Via della Rosa and continue straight until you reach the intersection with Via Fillungo. Turn right onto Via Fillungo, and then turn left at the first intersection onto Via San Francesco. Continue straight until you reach Piazza San Francesco, where the Chiesa di San Francesco is located.

If you are near the Lucca Botanical Gardens (Orto Botanico), exit the gardens and head towards Via dei Carpentieri. Turn right onto Via Fratelli Cervi and continue straight until you reach the walls. Enter through Porta San Donato, and once inside, keep walking straight until you reach Piazza San Francesco on your left. The Chiesa di San Francesco will be visible in the piazza.
