Walking
From the Lucca Train Station, exit the station and turn left onto Viale Giuseppe Garibaldi. Walk straight for about 1 kilometer until you reach the ancient city walls. Continue walking along the walls until you reach the Porta San Pietro. Once you pass through the gate, you will be in the old town. Continue straight on Via San Pietro, and then take a left onto Via Fillungo. Follow this street until you reach Piazza Santa Maria, which will be on your right.
Walking
If you are near the Lucca Cathedral (Duomo di Lucca), exit the cathedral and head east on Via Giuseppe Mazzini. Continue straight until you reach Piazza San Giovanni. From there, turn right onto Via Roma and walk straight for about 300 meters until you reach Piazza Santa Maria, which will be on your left.
Walking
If you are at the central bus station (Piazza Verdi), walk towards the city walls and enter through Porta San Donato. Once inside, head straight and take the first right onto Via della Cavallerizza. Continue walking straight until you reach the intersection with Via Fillungo. Turn left and you will find Piazza Santa Maria shortly after on your right.
Bicycle
If you have rented a bicycle, start from the city walls and cycle along the paths surrounding Lucca. Head towards Porta San Pietro and enter the old town. Once inside, cycle straight down Via Fillungo and keep an eye out for Piazza Santa Maria, which will be on your right. There is bike parking available near the square.
