Car
If you are traveling by car, start from Grosseto and take the SS323 towards Arcidosso. Follow the SS323 for about 30 kilometers until you reach the town of Arcidosso. Once in Arcidosso, look for signs pointing to 'Castello Aldobrandesca' or navigate to Piaggetta del Castello, 3, 58031 Arcidosso GR using your GPS. There is limited parking available near the fortress, so arrive early to secure a spot.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a train from Grosseto to the nearest station, which is Arcidosso. The train ride takes approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Arcidosso station, catch a local bus (Line 13) towards Arcidosso centro. Get off at the final stop and walk to Piaggetta del Castello, which is about a 15-minute walk uphill to the fortress. Be sure to check the bus schedule ahead of time as they may run infrequently.
Walking
If you're already in Arcidosso, you can walk to Aldobrandesca Fortress. From the town center, head towards Via Roma and follow the signs to Castello Aldobrandesca. The walk is about 1.5 kilometers and will take approximately 20-30 minutes, with some uphill sections. Ensure you wear comfortable shoes, as the path may be uneven.
