Discover more about Capanna of Cencioni

Capanna of Cencioni stands as a testament to Tuscan winemaking tradition, located in the esteemed Montosoli area north of Montalcino. Founded in 1957 by Giuseppe Cencioni, the estate broke away from the sharecropping system to become a pioneer in the modern Brunello era. Giuseppe, with the help of his sons Benito and Franco, began bottling his own wines in the 1960s and was among the founders of the Brunello di Montalcino Wine Consortium in 1966. Today, Capanna remains a family affair, with Amedeo Cencioni, representing the fourth generation, overseeing the winemaking and agronomic aspects. The estate spans 66 hectares, with 27 hectares dedicated to vineyards, all within a 2-kilometer radius of the cellar in Montosoli. This area is known for its favorable microclimate and soil, ideal for producing structured, elegant, and fruity wines. Visitors to Capanna can immerse themselves in the winemaking process through guided tours of the cellar, followed by tastings of their acclaimed wines, grappas, and extra virgin olive oil. The winery also boasts a restaurant, Il Passaggio by Capanna, for those seeking a complete culinary experience. Capanna's commitment to tradition, combined with modern techniques, ensures the production of high-quality Brunello di Montalcino, Rosso di Montalcino, Moscadello, and Sant'Antimo wines.
