Porta del Pianello: A Gateway to Montefollonico's Past

Today, Porta del Pianello stands as the main entrance to Montefollonico and the gate with the best defenses. The inner gate is medieval and bears the coat of arms of the people of Siena. The outer gate, likely added in the 15th century, was originally equipped with a drawbridge.
