Walking
If you're in the Historic Centre, the Colosseum is easily reachable on foot. Start by heading towards Via dei Fori Imperiali, a major road lined with ancient ruins. As you walk down this road, you will see the Colosseum rising majestically in the distance. The walk from the heart of the Historic Centre, such as from Piazza Venezia, should take about 15-20 minutes. Make sure to take a moment to enjoy the views of the Roman Forum along the way.
Metro
Another option is to use the Metro. From any central location in the Historic Centre, find your way to the nearest Metro station, such as Barberini (Line A) or Cavour (Line B). If you are at Barberini, take the Metro towards Anagnina and change at Termini station for Line B towards Laurentina. Get off at the Colosseo station, which is just a short walk from the entrance. The Metro ticket costs €1.50 and is valid for 100 minutes of travel on buses and trams as well.
Bus
You can also take a city bus to the Colosseum. Look for bus lines that stop at 'Colosseo,' such as lines 75, 81, or 673. Depending on your location, you can catch one of these buses from various stops in the Historic Centre. A single bus ticket costs €1.50 and is valid for 100 minutes of travel. Make sure to validate your ticket before boarding the bus.
