Getting There

• Walking

  From the main entrance of the San Gimignano town center, head south along Via San Giovanni. Continue straight until you reach Piazza della Cisterna, a central square. From Piazza della Cisterna, take Via San Matteo, which will lead you to the next square. Once you reach Piazza delle Erbe, look for signs directing you to the exit of the town towards the bus station. Follow the signs to the bus terminal, which is located just outside the city walls. You will need to catch a bus to Florence; the buses run frequently throughout the day.

  At the San Gimignano bus station, purchase a ticket for Florence. Buses to Florence usually depart approximately every 30 minutes. Once on the bus, enjoy the scenic ride, which will take around 1 hour. When you arrive at the Florence bus station (Firenze S.M.N.), exit the bus and head towards the main exit of the station. From there, you can either walk or take a local bus or tram to reach your specific destination in Florence.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a more direct route, you can take a taxi from the San Gimignano town center to Florence. Taxis can be found near the main square or can be booked via local taxi services. The ride will take about 1 hour, depending on traffic conditions. Ensure to confirm the fare with the driver before starting your journey.
