Bus
From Taormina, head to the nearest bus station, which is located at Via Luigi Pirandello. Look for the buses heading towards Catania. You can catch a bus operated by AST (Azienda Siciliana Trasporti). The journey to Nicolosi will take approximately 50 minutes. Once you arrive at Nicolosi, get off at the stop called 'Funivia dell'Etna'. The cable car station is a short walk from the bus stop.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, you can take a taxi from Taormina to Funivia dell'Etna. Head to the main square, Piazza IX Aprile, where you can find taxis waiting. Inform the driver that you want to go to 'Funivia dell'Etna' in Nicolosi. The ride will take around 30 minutes, depending on traffic.
Walking and Bus Combination
You can also walk to the bus station at Via Luigi Pirandello from central Taormina, which takes about 10-15 minutes. From there, catch the AST bus to Catania, as mentioned earlier. After reaching Nicolosi, walk towards the Funivia dell'Etna cable car station. This option is great if you want to enjoy the sights of Taormina while on your way.
