Car
If you are driving to Shiraiwa Falls from central Bungo, start by heading northwest on Route 2. Continue for about 10 kilometers until you reach the junction with Route 4. Take Route 4 to the north for another 15 kilometers until you see signs for Shiraiwa Falls. Turn onto the smaller road leading to the falls. Parking is available nearby, and it may cost around 500 yen for the day.
Public Transportation (Train and Bus)
To reach Shiraiwa Falls using public transportation, begin your journey at Bungo's main train station. Take a train on the Yufuin Line towards Yufuin. After about 30 minutes, transfer at Yufu Station to a local bus heading to Shiraiwa Falls. The bus ride will take approximately 20 minutes. Be sure to check the bus schedule in advance, as they may not run frequently. The bus fare is around 600 yen.
Walking (from Bus Stop)
Once you arrive at the bus stop for Shiraiwa Falls, you will need to walk for about 1 kilometer to reach the falls. Follow the marked walking trail that leads you through a picturesque forest. The path is well-maintained, but be mindful of any uneven surfaces. It should take you about 15-20 minutes to reach the falls from the bus stop.
