Car
If you're driving from the center of Chikugo, take Route 383 north towards Kurume. Continue on this road for approximately 15 kilometers. When you reach Kurume, follow the signs for Kitano Tenmangu Shrine. The address is 3267 Kitanomachinaka, Kurume, Fukuoka 830-1113. There is parking available near the shrine, which may incur a small fee, typically around 500 yen.
Train
From Chikugo, head to Chikugo-Funaguchi Station. Take the Nishitetsu Tenjin Omuta Line towards Kurume. The journey takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Kurume Station, transfer to the Nishitetsu Kurume Line and take a train towards Amagi. Get off at Kitanomachi Station, which is about a 10-minute ride. From Kitanomachi Station, it’s a 15-minute walk to Kitano Tenmangu Shrine. Follow the signs leading to the shrine, or use a map application for directions.
Bus
You can take a local bus from Chikugo to Kurume. Look for buses heading towards Kurume Station. The bus ride will take approximately 40 minutes. Once you arrive at Kurume Station, you can either walk to Kitano Tenmangu Shrine (approximately a 25-minute walk) or take a taxi for a quicker option. A taxi ride will cost around 1,200 yen.
