Car
If you are driving, begin your journey on the Chugoku Expressway (中国自動車道) and head towards Matsue. Take the Matsue Interchange exit and follow the signs to the city center. Once in Matsue, continue on Route 9 until you reach a traffic light at the intersection with Route 431. Turn left onto Route 431 and keep driving until you reach Kitahoricho. You will see the Former Samurai Residence, located at 305 Shiomine Nawa, on your right. There is parking available nearby, but be sure to check local parking regulations.
Public Transportation
To reach the Former Samurai Residence using public transport, start by taking a train to Matsue Station (松江駅) on the Sanin Main Line. From Matsue Station, exit the station and locate the bus stop for Matsue City Loop Bus (松江市営バス). Board a bus that heads towards the 'Shimane Museum of Ancient Izumo' route. After approximately 10 minutes, get off at the 'Shimane Prefectural Museum' bus stop. From there, walk along the main road and turn left onto Kitahoricho street. Continue walking for about 5 minutes, and you will arrive at the Former Samurai Residence at 305 Shiomine Nawa.
