Car
If you are driving, take the Sanyo Expressway (山陽自動車道) and exit at Fukuyama-higashi (福山東) interchange. From there, follow Route 2 towards Fukuyama City. After approximately 15 km, take Route 182 towards Tomonoura. The scenic coastal drive will lead you directly to Tomonoura. Parking is available nearby the waterfront area, but note that fees may apply.
Train
To reach Tomonoura by train, take the JR Sanyo Line from Hiroshima Station to Fukuyama Station. This journey takes about 50 minutes. Upon arrival at Fukuyama Station, transfer to the Fukuyama City Loop Bus (福山循環バス) and board the bus heading towards Tomonoura (approximately 40 minutes). The bus fare is around 400 yen. Disembark at the Tomonoura stop, and you will be a short walk from the waterfront area.
Bus
If you prefer a more direct route by bus, you can take an express bus from Hiroshima Bus Center to Fukuyama. Look for buses heading to Fukuyama Station. Upon arriving at Fukuyama, switch to the Fukuyama City Loop Bus and take the bus to Tomonoura. The total travel time from Hiroshima to Tomonoura is approximately 1.5 hours. The bus fare for the express bus is around 1,500 yen.
Bicycle
For those looking for an adventurous route, consider cycling from Fukuyama to Tomonoura. From Fukuyama Station, you can rent a bicycle and follow the scenic route along the coastline. The distance is approximately 13 km and offers beautiful views of the Seto Inland Sea. Ensure you have a map or GPS as cycle paths may not be well-marked.
