Getting There

Car
If you are driving from central Hitachi, head south on Route 6 (also known as the Joban Expressway) towards Mito. Continue on Route 6 for about 40 kilometers, then take the exit towards Kamakura. Merge onto Route 134 and follow the signs toward Kamakura. After approximately 10 kilometers, turn left onto Ōmachi Street. Joei-ji will be on your right at 1 Chome-12-11 Ōmachi, Kamakura.

To reach Joei-ji by public transport, start at Hitachi Station. Take the JR Joban Line towards Ueno. Transfer at Toride Station to the JR Sobu Line and continue to Chigasaki Station. From there, transfer to the Enoshima Electric Railway and get off at Kamakura Station. Once at Kamakura Station, exit and walk towards the bus terminal. Take the Kanagawa Chuo Kotsu bus number 21 towards 'Kamakura Daibutsu.' Get off at 'Kamakura Koko' bus stop. From there, it’s a 10-minute walk east along Ōmachi Street to reach Joei-ji at 1 Chome-12-11 Ōmachi.
