If you're driving from central Hitachi, take Route 6 (Higashi-Kanto Expressway) heading towards Mito. Follow the signs for Mito and exit at Mito Interchange. Continue on Route 50 towards Mito City. Once in Mito, follow the signs to Kōbuntei, located at 1 Chome-3-3 Tokiwacho. There is parking available nearby, although it may incur a fee of approximately 500 yen for a few hours.
Train
Start your journey at Hitachi Station. Board the JR Joban Line towards Mito Station. The train ride takes about 30 minutes. Upon arriving at Mito Station, exit the station and head to the bus terminal located next to the station. Take the bus bound for Kairakuen, and get off at the Kairakuen stop. Kōbuntei is a short 10-minute walk from the bus stop. The bus fare is around 220 yen.
Taxi
For a more direct option, consider taking a taxi from anywhere in Hitachi directly to Kōbuntei. Simply tell the driver you want to go to Kōbuntei in Mito, and they will take you. The taxi fare may vary depending on your exact starting location but expect it to range between 4,000 to 6,000 yen.
