Car
If you are driving from Sapporo, take the Hokkaido Expressway (道央自動車道) towards Obihiro. The drive is approximately 2.5 to 3 hours depending on traffic. Once you reach Obihiro, take the Exit 1 at Obihiro Interchange and follow Route 38 (国道38号) towards the city center. Keep an eye out for signs directing you to Midorigaoka. The zoo is located at 2 Midorigaoka, Obihiro, Hokkaido 080-0846. There is parking available at the zoo for a fee, so be prepared for that cost.
Public Transportation - Train
From Sapporo Station, take the JR Limited Express 'Tokachi' train to Obihiro Station. This will take approximately 2.5 hours. Once you arrive at Obihiro Station, exit the station and head to the bus terminal located next to the station. Take the bus bound for 'Obihiro Zoo.' The bus ride will take about 30 minutes. Please check the bus schedule in advance, as the frequency may vary throughout the day. The fare for the bus is approximately 500 yen.
Public Transportation - Bus
If you are in the surrounding areas, local buses can also reach Obihiro Zoo. Check local bus schedules for routes that connect to Obihiro Station, and from there you can take the bus to the zoo as mentioned above. Make sure to have some yen ready, as the bus fare may vary based on distance.
