The Aoshima Lighthouse, located on the east side of Aoshima Island in Miyazaki, Japan, offers scenic views and a glimpse into the island's maritime history. Aoshima is a small island connected to the mainland by a bridge, known for its subtropical vegetation and Aoshima Shrine.

Walking
From Aoshima Station, walk straight for about 10 minutes towards the coast. You'll pass through the Aoshima arcade with shops and restaurants. Continue across the bridge connecting the mainland to Aoshima Island. Once on the island, follow the path to the east side of the island. The lighthouse is located on the east side of the island and is reached by walking along the beach. There are no tolls or entrance fees to access the island or the lighthouse.
Public Transport
Take the JR Nichinan Line to Aoshima Station. From Miyazaki Station, the trip takes approximately 30 minutes and costs 450 yen. From the station, it's a 10-minute walk to Aoshima Island and the lighthouse. Buses from Miyazaki Station also stop at Aoshima. The one-way trip takes about 50 minutes and costs 790 yen. No additional costs are involved in reaching the lighthouse from the island's entrance.
Driving
From Miyazaki City, drive south on Route 220 for about 20 minutes. Turn left at the Aoshima turnoff, just after crossing the Kaeda River bridge. You cannot drive onto Aoshima Island. Park in the paid parking near Aoshima Sando or the free parking at JR Aoshima Station (free until 5 PM). From the parking areas, walk to Aoshima Island and follow the path to the lighthouse. Parking costs vary, but expect to pay around 300-500 yen per hour at the toll parking.
