Walking

If you are in the Hososhima area, walking to the lighthouse is a great option. Head towards the coastline, following the walking path that leads directly to the lighthouse. The scenic route along the coast offers beautiful views, and the walk should take around 20-30 minutes. Wear comfortable shoes as the path may have uneven surfaces.

Public Transport

To reach Hososhima Lighthouse using public transportation, start at Hyuga Station. Take a local bus towards Hososhima; the bus ride takes approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the 'Hososhima' bus stop. From there, you can either walk for about 15 minutes or take a taxi to the lighthouse. The bus ride typically costs around ¥500.

Car

If you're traveling by car from central Hyuga, take Route 10 towards Hososhima. The drive should take about 20 minutes. Once you reach Hososhima, follow the signs to the lighthouse. There is a small parking area available near the base of the lighthouse. Parking fees may apply.

The Hososhima Lighthouse is a captivating landmark nestled along the coastline of Hyuga, Miyazaki. More than just a navigational aid, it's a destination that blends natural beauty with historical significance. The lighthouse offers stunning panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, where visitors can witness vibrant sunrises and sunsets.The lighthouse was originally built with red brick in 1910, but it was rebuilt with white walls in 1941. Standing approximately 100 meters above sea level, the current structure is an architectural marvel and a prime subject for photographers. The surrounding area is maintained as a beautiful park, offering spectacular Kyushu-style tropical scenery. Nearby, the Sea Cross, an eroded reef resembling a cross, adds to the area's allure. According to legend, wishes made at the lighthouse are granted, leading to its designation as a "Love Lighthouse" in 2017 by the Nippon Romantist Association.Visitors can enjoy a leisurely hike to the lighthouse via a walking path from Umagase, offering scenic coastal views. The lighthouse and its surroundings provide a serene escape and a chance to connect with nature and history.
