Discover more about Tokyo Tower

Rising 333 meters high in central Tokyo, the Tokyo Tower is a symbol of Japan's post-war rebirth as a major economic power. Completed in 1958, it was the tallest structure in Japan until 2012. The lattice tower, inspired by the Eiffel Tower, is painted in international orange and white to comply with air safety regulations. The tower's main sources of revenue are tourism and antenna leasing. As a broadcasting antenna support structure and tourist destination, it houses several attractions. Visitors can ascend to two observation decks for panoramic views: the Main Deck at 150 meters and the Top Deck at 250 meters. On clear days, the Tokyo Skytree and Mount Fuji are visible. For the brave, the Main Deck features "lookdown windows".Located at the base of the tower is Foot Town, a four-story building with museums, restaurants, and shops. Nearby attractions include Zojoji Temple, Shiba Park, and Shiba Toshogu Shrine. The tower is repainted every five years, a process that takes a year to complete.
