Discover more about Tokyo Gate Bridge

The Tokyo Gate Bridge, an impressive feat of engineering, stretches across Tokyo Bay, linking Koto and Ota wards. Often called the "Dinosaur Bridge" due to its resemblance to two dinosaurs facing each other, this truss cantilever bridge has become an iconic landmark.Completed in 2012, the bridge was constructed to ease traffic congestion in the Tokyo Bay area and improve transportation to the Tokyo Port. Its unique design, a result of the need to accommodate both air traffic to nearby Haneda Airport and sea traffic, makes it a sight to behold. The bridge is 2,618 meters long and 87.8 meters high, with a central span of 440 meters.Visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the Tokyo skyline, Tokyo Bay, and, on clear days, even Mount Fuji from the pedestrian walkway. The walkway is accessible from Wakasu Seaside Park, offering a pleasant stroll with scenic vistas. At night, the bridge is illuminated with LED lights, creating a mesmerizing display of colors that change monthly. While crossing the bridge, take note of the restrictions implemented due to the bridge's design. Cyclists must dismount and walk their bicycles, and pets are prohibited. Also, the walkway is only accessible from the Wakasu side, requiring pedestrians to return to Wakasu after reaching the midpoint. Despite these limitations, the Tokyo Gate Bridge offers a unique and memorable experience for tourists and locals alike.
