From Kita-Senju Station (various lines), walk approximately 20 minutes to the shrine. Alternatively, take a bus from the station to a closer stop and walk for about 5-10 minutes. The local bus fare is around ¥220.

Overview

Senju Shrine, nestled in Adachi City, is a Shinto sanctuary with a rich history. Originally founded as separate Inari and Hikawa shrines in 926 and 1279 respectively, they were later combined and renamed Senju Shrine in 1915. Dedicated to Susanoo-no-Mikoto and Ukanomitama-no-Mikoto, the shrine has been a local spiritual center for centuries.During World War II, the shrine suffered significant damage, with its wooden buildings destroyed in 1945. A concrete bomb shelter within the grounds remains as a testament to the wartime era. The main building was reconstructed in 1958, marking a new chapter in the shrine's history.Today, visitors can explore the rebuilt main hall and other structures, as well as a Fuji-zuka, a miniature Mount Fuji constructed in 1922 and moved to its current location in 1936. A stone monument inscribed with a haiku by Matsuo Basho, dating back to 1866, adds to the shrine's cultural appeal. The shrine provides a tranquil space to experience Japanese culture and spirituality.
