Getting There

Train
From Kyoto Station, take the JR San-in Line (also known as the JR Sagano Line) towards Saga-Arashiyama. The journey takes about 15 minutes. Get off at Saga-Arashiyama Station. Once you exit the station, follow the signs to the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, which is about a 10-minute walk from the station. Head towards the main road and cross the Togetsu-kyo Bridge, then walk straight until you reach the entrance of the bamboo grove.

Bus
From Kyoto Station, you can take the Kyoto City Bus number 28 or the number 11. Both buses will take you to the Arashiyama area. If you take bus number 28, get off at the 'Arashiyama' stop. If you take bus number 11, get off at 'Arashiyama Koen' stop. From either stop, it's about a 5 to 10-minute walk to the entrance of the Bamboo Forest. Follow the signs directing you towards the bamboo grove.

Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle from various rental shops around Kyoto Station. Ride along the riverside path towards Arashiyama, which is approximately 7 km away. The bike ride will take around 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive in Arashiyama, park your bicycle near the entrance of the Bamboo Forest and enjoy your walk through the serene bamboo pathways.
