Getting There

  • Train

    From Kyoto Station, take the JR San-in Line (also known as the JR Sagano Line) towards Saga-Arashiyama Station. The train journey takes about 15 minutes. Once you arrive at Saga-Arashiyama Station, exit the station and walk towards the north exit.

  • Bus

    After exiting Saga-Arashiyama Station, you can catch a bus from the nearby bus stop. Look for the bus number 28, which goes towards 'Tenryuji' or 'Sagatenryuji'. The bus ride will take around 10 minutes. Get off at the 'Tenryuji' bus stop.

  • Walking

    Once you get off at the 'Tenryuji' bus stop, you are just a short walk away from Tenryu-ji Temple. Head straight down the path, and you will see the entrance to the temple on your right side. The temple is located at 68 Sagatenryuji Susukinobabacho, Ukyo Ward, Kyoto.
