Getting There

  • Train

    From Kyoto Station, take the JR Nara Line towards Nara. The train ride will take about 30 minutes. Get off at Uji Station. Once you arrive at Uji Station, take the East exit. You will see a bus stop right in front of you.

  • Bus

    From Uji Station, you can take the Kyoto City Bus (No. 20) or the Uji City Bus (No. 6) from the bus stop. Get off at Uji Jinja-mae bus stop. The Uji Shrine will be a short walk from there; simply follow the signs to the shrine, which should take around 5 minutes.

  • Walking

    If you prefer to walk from Uji Station, exit the station and head east along the main road. Continue straight for about 15 minutes until you reach the Uji Shrine. Look for the large torii gate which indicates the entrance to the shrine.
