Car
If you're traveling by car, start from Fukuoka City. Take the Kyushu Expressway towards Oita. After about 2 hours, take the Yufuin exit. Follow Route 210 north towards Yufuin. Once in Yufuin, follow the signs to Kinrin Lake, which is located at 1561-1 Yufuincho Kawakami, Yufu, Oita 879-5102. There is parking available near the lake, though fees may apply depending on the lot.
Train
For those using public transportation, take the JR Shinkansen from Hakata Station in Fukuoka to Oita Station. The journey takes about 2 hours. From Oita Station, transfer to the JR Kyudai Line and take a train to Yufuin Station, which takes approximately 40 minutes. Once you arrive at Yufuin Station, you can either walk to Kinrin Lake (about a 20-minute walk) or take a local bus. The bus ride will take about 10 minutes and the fare is around 300 yen.
Bus
If you are already in the Yufuin area, you can take a local bus from Yufuin Station directly to Kinrin Lake. The bus operates frequently, and the ride takes approximately 10 minutes. The fare is about 300 yen. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance to avoid long waits.
