Upon arrival, look for public parking nearby, as parking spaces may be limited. The museum has a parking fee of approximately ¥200 per hour.
Train
If you are traveling by train, take the Shinkansen (bullet train) to Kumamoto Station from your location in Kyushu. From Kumamoto Station, exit and look for the Kyushu Railway Company (JR Kyushu) local train services. Take the Kumamoto City Tram (Kumamoto Dentetsu) from Kumamoto Station to the 'Kumamoto City Museum' tram stop. The tram ride takes about 15 minutes and costs around ¥200. Once you disembark at the museum stop, walk for about 5 minutes to reach the museum entrance.
Bus
You can also take a bus to Kumamoto City Museum. From Kumamoto Station, head to the bus terminal right outside the station. Look for the city buses heading towards 'Furukyomachi'. The bus ride will take approximately 20 minutes, and the fare is about ¥200. Get off at the 'Furukyomachi' bus stop, which is a short walk from the museum. Follow the signs to reach the museum entrance.
