Car
If you are driving, head towards the Oita Prefecture. From Fukuoka, take the Kyushu Expressway (E3) heading south. After approximately 2 hours, take the exit towards Kokonoe on Route 210. Follow Route 210 for about 30 minutes until you reach Matsugi, Kokonoe. Once in Matsugi, look for signs directing you to Ryumon Falls, which is located a short 10-minute drive from the main road. Parking is available near the falls, and it is free of charge.
Public Transportation
To reach Ryumon Falls using public transportation, take a train from your location in Kyushu to Yufuin Station. From there, transfer to a bus bound for Kokonoe. The bus ride takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Kokonoe, you can take a local taxi to Ryumon Falls, which is approximately a 15-minute ride. Be sure to check the bus schedule ahead of time, as services may be limited, especially on weekends and holidays.
Taxi
If you prefer not to drive or use public transport, you can hire a taxi from the nearest major city, such as Beppu or Yufuin. The fare will vary depending on your starting point, but expect to pay around 5,000 to 10,000 yen for a one-way trip to Ryumon Falls.
