Car
If you are driving, start your journey from Kumamoto City. Take the Kyushu Expressway (E57) and head toward Aso. Exit at the Aso Interchange (IC). From there, follow Route 57 towards Aso. After approximately 30 minutes, you will reach the town of Aso. Continue on Route 11 until you see signs for the Mount Aso Observation Deck. There is a parking area available at the observation deck, which is free of charge.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, start at Kumamoto Station. Take the JR Hohi Line to Aso Station (approximately 40 minutes). From Aso Station, you can take a local bus (Aso Kumamoto Airport Line) heading towards the Mount Aso area. The bus ride takes about 30 minutes. Get off at the 'Aso Sancho' bus stop. From there, it is a short walk to the observation deck. Note that bus schedules may vary, so be sure to check the current timetable in advance.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, you can take a taxi from Aso Station to the Mount Aso Observation Deck. The taxi ride will take about 20 minutes and cost approximately 2,000 to 3,000 yen depending on traffic. Make sure to confirm the fare with the driver before starting your journey.
