If you're driving from the center of Nara, take the National Route 369 heading north towards Kyoto. After approximately 30 minutes, merge onto the Meishin Expressway towards Kyoto. Continue on the expressway for about 20 km and take the exit for Fushimi Ward. Follow the signs for Fushimi and then Nakajimatobarikyucho. Once you reach Nakajimatobarikyucho, look for signs for Jōnangū Shrine. The shrine is located at 〒612-8459 Kyoto, Fushimi Ward, Nakajimatobarikyucho, 7. There is parking available nearby.

To reach Jōnangū Shrine using public transport, start at Nara Station. Take the Kintetsu Nara Line train towards Kyoto and get off at Fushimi Inari Station. The journey takes about 40 minutes. From Fushimi Inari Station, transfer to the JR Nara Line and take a train towards Kyoto Station. Get off at Tofukuji Station. Once you exit Tofukuji Station, take bus number 80 towards Fushimi Ward and get off at the Nakajimatobarikyucho stop.
