    From Nara Park, walk to the Nara Kotsu Bus Terminal. Take the bus number 70 or 72 heading towards Kyoto. Get off at the Okazaki Koen/Heian Jingu-mae bus stop. From there, it's a short 5-minute walk to Heian Shrine. Just follow the signs pointing toward the shrine.

  • Train and Walk

    From Nara Station, take the Kintetsu Nara Line to Kyoto Station (approximately 45 minutes). Once at Kyoto Station, transfer to the Kyoto City Subway Karasuma Line and head to Karasuma Oike Station. Change to the Tozai Line and get off at Higashiyama Station. From there, walk towards the Heian Shrine, which is about a 15-minute walk. Follow the signs directing you to 'Heian Jingu'.

  • Taxi

    If you prefer a quicker option, you can take a taxi from the Nara city center directly to Heian Shrine. Just tell the driver 'Heian Jingu' in Japanese or show them the address: 97 Okazaki Nishitennocho, Sakyo Ward, Kyoto. The journey will take around 45 minutes depending on traffic.
