Getting There

Bus
From Nara Park, walk to the Nara Bus Terminal, which is located just outside the Nara Park area. Take the Kyoto-bound bus (Kyoto City Bus) to the 'Saga Arashiyama' stop. From the bus stop, it’s about a 15-minute walk to Hōkyō-in. Head northeast on Saga Shakado Street, then turn left onto Sagashakado Monzen Minamichuincho. The temple will be on your right.

Train and Walk
From Nara Station, take the Kintetsu Nara Line to Kyoto Station. At Kyoto Station, transfer to the JR San-In Line and get off at Saga-Arashiyama Station. From there, it is about a 20-minute walk to Hōkyō-in. Exit the station and head south on Arashiyama Main Street, then turn right onto Sagashakado Monzen Minamichuincho. Hōkyō-in will be on your left.

Bicycle Rental
You can rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops near Nara Park. Once you have your bike, head north to the Kintetsu Nara Station. Follow the signs to the Kyoto-bound route, which will take you to Hōkyō-in. The ride is approximately 30 minutes. Make sure to follow the cycling paths and be aware of traffic.
