Getting There

  • Bus

    From Kyoto Station, take the City Bus #28 towards 'Hozukyo'. The journey takes about 30 minutes. Get off at the 'Sagashakado Monzen' stop. Once you get off, walk for about 5 minutes east along the road, and you will see Hōkyō-in on your right at 9-1 Sagashakado Monzen Minamichuincho.

  • Train

    From Kyoto Station, take the JR San-in Line (also known as the JR Sagano Line) towards 'Kameoka'. Disembark at 'Saga-Arashiyama Station'. From there, take a local bus (Bus #11 or #28) towards 'Hozukyo' and get off at 'Sagashakado Monzen'. Hōkyō-in is a short 5-minute walk to the east from the bus stop.

  • Walking

    If you are near Arashiyama, you can walk to Hōkyō-in. From the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, head northeast along the main road for about 20 minutes. Continue walking until you reach the intersection with Sagashakado Monzen. Hōkyō-in will be on your left at 9-1 Sagashakado Monzen Minamichuincho.
