Train
From Nara Station, take the JR Nara Line towards Kyoto. After about 45 minutes, get off at the JR Saga Arashiyama Station. Once you exit the station, turn left and walk towards the main street. Continue straight until you reach the Togetsukyo Bridge. Cross the bridge and follow the signs to Hōrin-ji Temple, which is about a 15-minute walk from the bridge. The temple is located on Kokuzoyamacho, Nishikyo Ward.
Bus
From Nara Park, walk to the Nara Bus Terminal. Take the Kintetsu Nara Line bus towards Kameoka or Arashiyama. Get off at the Arashiyama Stop. After alighting, follow the directional signs to Arashiyama Kokuzoyamacho. It’s about a 20-minute walk from the bus stop to Hōrin-ji Temple.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, rent a bicycle in Nara. Begin your ride towards the south, following the path to the Kizu River. Keep going until you reach the Arashiyama area. The ride will take approximately 1 hour. Once you reach Arashiyama, use a map app on your phone to navigate to Hōrin-ji Temple located on Kokuzoyamacho, Nishikyo Ward.
