Experience Horyu-ji

Getting There

  • Train

    From Nara Station, take the Kintetsu Nara Line towards Ikoma. The ride takes about 35 minutes. Get off at Horyuji Station. Once you exit the station, turn right and follow the road for approximately 15 minutes, and you will see Horyu-ji on your left.

  • Bus

    From Nara Station, head to the bus terminal located just outside the station. Take the Nara Kotsu Bus No. 70 or No. 71 heading towards Horyu-ji. The journey will take around 30 minutes. Disembark at the Horyu-ji Iriguchi bus stop, which is a short walk from the temple entrance.

  • Walking

    If you are near the Naramachi area, you can walk to Horyu-ji. Head north on the main road (Route 168) for about 8 km. It takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours to walk, so be prepared for a long stroll. Keep an eye out for signs directing you to Horyu-ji as you get closer.
