Getting There

Train
From Nara Station, take the JR Yamatoji Line towards Nishiakashi and transfer at JR Kyoto Station. At Kyoto Station, switch to the JR Sanin Line (also known as the JR Sagano Line) heading towards Sonobe. Get off at the Arashiyama Station. From Arashiyama Station, it's about a 20-minute walk to Hozu Gorge. Exit the station and head towards the main street, then follow the signs towards the gorge.

Bus
From Nara Park, walk to the nearest bus stop and take the Kintetsu Nara Line to Kintetsu Kyoto Station. From there, board the Kyoto City Bus 28 towards Arashiyama. Get off at the Arashiyama Station bus stop. Hozu Gorge is about a 20-minute walk from there, just follow the signs leading you towards the scenic spot.

If you are near the center of Nara, you can walk to Nara Station and take the JR Yamatoji Line to Kyoto Station as mentioned above. However, if you are already in Arashiyama, simply head towards the Hozu River, which is where Hozu Gorge is located. Follow the river upstream to reach the scenic area.
