Getting There

  • Train

    Start by making your way to Kyoto Station. From there, purchase a ticket for the JR San-in Line. Board a train heading towards Saga-Arashiyama Station. The journey takes approximately 20 minutes. Once you arrive at Saga-Arashiyama Station, exit the station and head towards the river. You will see signs directing you to Hozu Gorge. Follow the signs along the pathway, which takes about 15-20 minutes to walk.

  • Bus

    From Kyoto Station, take the City Bus No. 28 towards Arashiyama. The bus ride takes about 30-40 minutes depending on traffic. Get off at the 'Arashiyama' bus stop. Once you disembark, follow the signs to Hozu Gorge, which will lead you through the scenic area. The walk will take approximately 10-15 minutes.

  • Walking

    If you're already in the Arashiyama area, find your way to the Togetsukyo Bridge. Cross the bridge, and after you cross, turn left. Follow the river path for about 15 minutes until you reach the entrance to Hozu Gorge. The path is surrounded by beautiful scenery and will lead you directly to the gorge.
