Getting There

  • Public Transport

    Start at Kyoto Station. Take the JR Biwako Line (also known as the JR Kosei Line) towards Omi-Hachiman. After approximately 30 minutes, get off at Yasu Station. From Yasu Station, exit and look for the bus stop for Shiga Kotsu buses. Take the number 47 bus towards 'Gioji'. The bus ride will take around 20 minutes. Get off at the 'Gioji' bus stop. From the bus stop, it's a short walk to Gioji.

    From Sanjo Station in Kyoto, take the Keihan Main Line towards Yodoyabashi. Transfer at Hirakata Station to the Keihan Katano Line, and continue towards Katano. Get off at the last stop, Katano Station, then take a taxi or a local bus to Gioji, which should be a short distance away.

    If you are in the vicinity of Gioji, you can walk from nearby landmarks such as the Hōgon-ji Temple or the Yasu Shrine. From Hōgon-ji, head southeast along the main road for about 15 minutes until you reach Gioji. Look for signs directing you to the temple.
