Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from Nara Park, head east from the park entrance towards Sanjōhonmachi street. Continue straight for about 15 minutes until you reach the intersection with the train tracks. Cross the tracks and you will see the JR Nara Station East Gate ahead of you.

    From Naramachi, walk south on Sanjōhonmachi street. After approximately 10 minutes, you will reach the intersection with the train tracks. Turn left and follow the tracks until you see the JR Nara Station East Gate on your right.

  • Public Transport

    If you are at the Nara City Office, you can take bus number 70 or 72 from the Nara City Office bus stop. Get off at the JR Nara Station stop, which is only a 5-minute ride. Once you disembark, you will be directly in front of the East Gate.

    From the Todai-ji Temple, exit the temple grounds and head towards the main road. Walk north on the main road for about 15 minutes until you reach the intersection with the train tracks. Cross the tracks, and the JR Nara Station East Gate will be visible straight ahead.
