Car
If you're driving from the city center of Omi, head east on Route 8. Continue on Route 8 for about 15 kilometers until you reach Hikone. Take the exit toward Hikone IC and merge onto the Meishin Expressway. After approximately 5 kilometers, take the exit at Hikone and follow the signs to Sawayama Castle Ruins. You can park at the nearby parking area located at Furusawacho, Hikone, Shiga 522-0007. The parking fee is around 500 yen per day.

Public Transportation
Start at Omi Station. Take the JR Biwako Line and board a train heading towards Maibara. After just one stop, disembark at Hikone Station. From Hikone Station, exit the station and look for the bus terminal. Board the local bus bound for Sawayama. The bus ride takes about 15-20 minutes, and the fare is approximately 300 yen. Get off at the Sawayama bus stop, and the castle ruins will be a short walk from there.

If you prefer to walk from Hikone Station, it takes about 40 minutes. Exit Hikone Station and head northeast along the road. Follow the signs to Sawayama Castle Ruins.
