Car
From Owari, head north on Route 1 towards Nagoya. Merge onto the Chuo Expressway (Central Expressway) at the Nagoya Interchange. Continue on the Chuo Expressway until you reach the Matsumoto Interchange. Take the exit towards Matsumoto and follow signs for Kamikōchi. Note that the last part of the journey requires you to park at the Kamikōchi Parking Lot. Parking fees are approximately 1,000 yen per day. From the parking lot, you will need to take a bus provided by the Kamikōchi Management Office to reach the entrance of Kamikōchi, which costs around 2,500 yen for a round trip.
Public Transportation
From Owari Station, take the JR Chuo Line to Nagoya Station. At Nagoya Station, transfer to the Limited Express Shinano bound for Matsumoto. Upon arriving in Matsumoto, you will need to transfer to the Alpico Kotsu bus service that goes directly to Kamikōchi. The bus ride from Matsumoto to Kamikōchi takes about 1 hour and costs approximately 2,500 yen round trip. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance, as it might vary depending on the season.
