Car
If you're traveling by car, head north from central Owari and take the Meishin Expressway towards Kyoto. After approximately 1.5 hours, take the exit towards Kyoto and follow Route 1. Continue on this road until you see signs for Kinkaku-ji. There is a parking area available near the temple, which generally costs around ¥500 for a few hours.
Public Transportation
To reach Kinkaku-ji using public transportation, start by taking a train from Owari to Kyoto Station. From Kyoto Station, transfer to the Karasuma Subway Line and travel north to Kitaoji Station. Exit the station and take bus number 101 or 205 towards Kinkaku-ji. The bus fare is approximately ¥230. Once you arrive at the Kinkaku-ji bus stop, it's just a short walk to the temple entrance.
