By Car
From Owari, take the Chuo Expressway (中央自動車道) towards Takayama. Depending on traffic, the drive will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. When approaching Takayama, take the exit towards Route 158 (国道158号) and continue driving until you reach the signs for Shirakawa-go. Follow the signs for Shirakawa-go (白川郷), and you will arrive at the village of Ogimachi, which is the main area within Shirakawa-go. Parking is available at designated lots, but there may be a fee (typically around 500-1000 yen for the day).
By Public Transportation
Start by taking a train from Owari to Takayama Station. You will likely need to change trains at Nagoya Station, taking the JR Tokaido Shinkansen (新幹線) to Nagoya and then transferring to the Hida Limited Express (飛騨) to Takayama. This journey takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. Once you arrive at Takayama Station, head to the Nohi Bus terminal located next to the station.
