Public Transport
From Hakone-Yumoto Station, take the Hakone Tozan Bus (H or R route) to Motohakone-ko bus stop. The ride takes approximately 30-40 minutes. From there, Lake Ashi is a short walk. The Hakone Tozan Bus costs around ¥960. Alternatively, from Odawara Station, take the Hakone Tozan Bus (H or R route) to Motohakone-ko. This journey takes approximately 60 minutes and costs around ¥1200. Consider purchasing a Hakone Free Pass for unlimited travel on buses, trains, and boats in the area.
Walking
From the Hakone-machi Port or Motohakone-ko Port, many attractions are within walking distance. Hakone Shrine is about a 10-minute walk from Motohakone-ko Port. Onshi-Hakone Park is a short walk east of Hakone-machi Port. The Old Tokaido Road is also accessible from Onshi-Hakone Park. Walking allows you to explore the area at your own pace and enjoy the scenery.
Taxi
From Hakone-Yumoto Station, a taxi to Lake Ashi (Motohakone area) takes approximately 25 minutes and costs around ¥5000-¥6500. Taxis are readily available at the station. This is a convenient option for those with limited time or traveling with luggage.
