Getting There

Car
If you are traveling by car from Sanuki, first head towards the Takamatsu Expressway. Follow the signs for the Takamatsu IC (Interchange) and take the expressway towards the direction of Miyazu. The drive takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic. Once you reach Miyazu, follow the local signs directing you to Amanohashidate. There are parking facilities available near the site, but be prepared to pay a parking fee which typically ranges from 500 to 1000 JPY.

Train
If you prefer public transportation, you can take a train from Sanuki Station. Board the JR Kotohira Line to Takamatsu Station. From Takamatsu, transfer to the JR Sanuki Line and take the train to Miyazu Station. The entire journey will take around 2 to 2.5 hours, including transfer times. Once you arrive at Miyazu Station, exit the station and take the local bus (or a taxi if you prefer) to Amanohashidate. The bus fare is approximately 250 JPY and takes about 15 minutes.

Another scenic option is to take a train to Amanohashidate via a ferry. Start by taking the JR Kotohira Line from Sanuki Station to Takamatsu Station. Then, take the JR Sanuki Line to Miyazu Station. After arriving at Miyazu Station, you have the option to take a bus or taxi to Amanohashidate, or you can walk to the nearby ferry terminal and take a ferry to Amanohashidate. The ferry ride offers beautiful views and costs around 600 JPY. The entire trip may take about 2 to 3 hours, depending on waiting times.
