Car
Start your journey in Sanuki by heading south on Route 11. Follow the signs for Takamatsu and continue driving for about 1 hour until you reach Himeji. Once you arrive in Himeji, follow the signs for Himeji Castle. You can park in the nearby parking lots such as the Himeji Castle Parking Lot (¥600 for 2 hours). After parking, it’s a short 10-minute walk to the castle entrance.
Train
From Sanuki, make your way to the nearest train station, Sanuki Station. Board the JR Takamatsu Line and travel to Okayama Station. This journey takes approximately 1 hour. At Okayama Station, transfer to the JR Sanyo Line and take the train to Himeji Station (about 45 minutes). Once you arrive at Himeji Station, exit the station and walk for about 15 minutes to reach Himeji Castle. Alternatively, you can take a bus from Himeji Station to Himeji Castle, which takes about 5 minutes (bus fare is around ¥200).
Bus
If you're in a central part of Sanuki, you can take a local bus to Takamatsu Station. From there, transfer to an express bus heading to Himeji. The bus ride will take roughly 1.5 hours. Upon arriving in Himeji, walk to Himeji Castle, which is approximately a 15-minute stroll from the bus terminal. Be prepared for a bus fare of around ¥1,500.
