Discover more about Mt. Moere

Mt. Moere, rising 62 meters above the expansive Moerenuma Park, is more than just a hill; it's a key element in Isamu Noguchi's artistic vision for the park. Noguchi conceived of Moerenuma Park as a single, unified sculpture, and Mt. Moere serves as a focal point, offering visitors a unique perspective on the surrounding landscape. Constructed from soil and non-combustible waste, Mt. Moere embodies Noguchi's commitment to transforming a former waste treatment site into a space of beauty and inspiration. The climb to the summit is accessible via five different routes, catering to various fitness levels. Some paths wind gently around the mountain, while others ascend directly, providing a more challenging ascent. Regardless of the chosen route, the climb typically takes around 10 minutes. At the summit, visitors are rewarded with a 360-degree panorama encompassing the entirety of Moerenuma Park and the sprawling cityscape of Sapporo. The observation point at the top is 2,004 centimeters wide, commemorating the centennial of Isamu Noguchi's birth. In winter, Mt. Moere transforms into a popular spot for skiing and sledding, offering a fun and active way to experience the park's snowy landscape.
