Getting There

  • Ferry & Bus

    From Kagoshima city, take the Sakurajima Ferry from Kagoshima Port to Sakurajima Port. Ferries depart frequently (every 15-20 minutes during the day) and the ride takes about 15 minutes. The ferry costs ¥250 per adult. Once at Sakurajima Port, take the Sakurajima Island View Bus. This loop bus departs every 30 minutes and stops at major attractions, including the Arimura Lava Observation Deck. A one-day pass costs ¥500. Alternatively, you can take a regular city bus towards Arimura, but these are less frequent.

    From Kagoshima city, take the Sakurajima Ferry from Kagoshima Port to Sakurajima Port. The ferry operates 24/7. Car transportation fares (one-way): Vehicle length between 3m and less than 4m is ¥1700, between 4m and less than 5m is ¥2350 (including passenger fare for one driver). Regular fares are paid at Sakurajima Port. From Sakurajima Port, follow the signs towards Arimura. The Arimura Lava Observation Deck is approximately 15 minutes by car. Parking is free.
