Public Transport
From Hiroshima Station, take the JR Sanyo Line to Miyajimaguchi Station (approx. 25 minutes, ¥420, covered by the Japan Rail Pass). Alternatively, take tram line number 2 from central Hiroshima to Hiroden-Miyajimaguchi Station (approx. 70 minutes, ¥240, not covered by the Japan Rail Pass). From either station, walk to Miyajimaguchi Passenger Terminal (5-10 minutes). Take either the JR Miyajima Ferry (covered by the Japan Rail Pass) or the Matsudai Ferry to Miyajima Island (10 minutes, ¥200 one way, plus ¥100 visitor tax). The shrine is a 10-minute walk from the Miyajima ferry terminal.
Walking
From the Miyajima ferry terminal, walk straight ahead along the main street. Follow the signs towards Itsukushima Shrine (approx. 10 minutes). The path is mostly flat and easy to navigate, passing shops and restaurants. Enjoy the scenic views of the sea and the surrounding mountains as you approach the shrine.
