  • Public Transport

    From JR Tottori Station, take the Hinomaru bus towards Amedaki. The bus ride takes approximately 60 minutes to the Amedaki bus stop. From there, it's a 20-minute walk to the falls. Bus fares vary, so have cash ready.

  • Car

    From Tottori City, follow Route 53 towards Kokufucho. Look for signs pointing to Amedaki Falls. There is a free parking area near the falls. From the parking lot, it is a short, 150-meter walk to Amedaki Falls.

Amedaki Falls, meaning 'Rain Falls,' is a majestic 40-meter waterfall located approximately 20 km east of Tottori City. The waterfall is formed by the Fukuro River cascading over a columnar basalt cliff, a result of volcanic activity from Mt. Oginosen. The name comes from the misty spray created by the falls.The area around Amedaki has been a place of ascetic practice for Buddhist priests since ancient times. The falls and surrounding valleys are said to contain 48 waterfalls in total. The water is considered sacred and believed to have skin-healing properties.Visitors can enjoy the falls year-round, with each season offering a unique experience. Summer brings lush greenery, while autumn transforms the landscape into vibrant colors. A short 150-meter walking trail leads from the parking lot to the base of the falls, making it easily accessible. Nearby, you can also find the smaller Nunobiki Falls. Shinto rituals are held at Amedaki Falls, including the Umbrella Dance in June.
