Getting There

  • Public Transport

    From Kyoto Station, take the JR Hashidate line to Oe Station, approximately a 90-minute train ride. From Oe Station, take a city bus to Oeyama-no-Ie, the last stop. The bus ride takes you closer to the mountain's trails. From Oeyama-no-Ie, it's about a 1-hour walk to reach Onitake Inari Shrine, a popular viewpoint for the sea of clouds. The bus fare from Oe Station to Oeyama-no-Ie is approximately ¥400.

  • Taxi

    From Fukuchiyama Station, a taxi to the Oni-take Inari Jinja (鬼岳稲荷神社) at the base of Mt. Oe takes around 20 minutes. Taxis are readily available outside the station. The approximate cost is ¥3,000 - ¥4,000.
